Church & State was founded in 2004 by Rachel and Nathaniel Crissman. The men’s and women’s collection debuted at an eastside fashion show during the Seaplane era, a formative time in Portland’s fashion history.
Church & State offers something different to the fashion conversation. The label explores minimalism and maximalism, feminism and masculinity, art and commerce.
Church & State has been at different volumes throughout the years, now it’s turning up.

SHIPPING & HANDLING
Orders ship via USPS or UPS with tracking numbers able to be provided at the time of shipment. We cannot ship to PO Boxes, as UPS requires a physical (residential or business) address for delivery. The customer assumes responsibility for any additional charges on rejected packages. Church & State is not responsible for shipping charges on items that are being exchanged for another size or similar product, or for customs fees (duties/taxes) incurred from importing goods. In the event a package is refused by the customer, all shipping charges and return shipping charges will be withheld from a customer's refund. Shipping rates are as follows:
Local Pick-Up (Portland, OR) - Free*
United States - Ground Shipping: $14.00
United States - Mug Ground Shipping: $7.50
International - Flat Rate: $40
Orders will ship within 2-3 business days upon purchase. Please let us know if you require any special shipping needs under "special instructions" in the checkout form, and we will do our best to accommodate you. To make any additional arrangements, please email info@churchandstate.co.
*Local pick-up is available from the store located at 433 NE 22nd Avenue Portland, OR 97232. Please email info@churchandstate.co so we can arrange a pick-up time that works for you. In general, we are typically here weekdays 10am to 6pm.
RETURNS & EXCHANGES
We are happy to accept returns for items within 14 days of purchase in-store or order delivery online. The returned merchandise must be in new condition, unworn, with the original tags attached and must be accompanied with a copy of the receipt. We offer you the option of exchange or refund. Refunds are credited to the original form of payment upon receipt of merchandise.
PRE-ORDER ITEMS MAY BE EXCHANGED FOR A DIFFERENTLY SIZE IF WE HAVE YOUR SIZE ON HAND, OTHERWISE PRE-ORDER ITEMS ARE FINAL SALE. SALE ITEMS ARE FINAL SALE. ITEMS PURCHASED WITH A DISCOUNT CODE ARE AVAILABLE FOR EXCHANGE OR STORE CREDIT ONLY.

Customers are responsible for all additional shipping costs for returns and exchanges. Church & State does not assume responsibility for reimbursement or compensation for returned packages lost in transit without proof of delivery to Church & State.
TERMS
Upon ordering, a receipt is emailed detailing items purchased and shipping address. If any information is incorrect, please contact us immediately so that we can make the necessary corrections. Church & State does not assume responsibility for shipping items to an incorrect address.
Orders may be canceled or delayed at any time due to insufficient materials or supplies, suspicion of fraud, the discovery of an incorrect item price, or any other reason we feel is necessary. If your credit card has already been charged and we cancel your order, Church & State will reissue the credit to your credit card account in the exact amount of the purchase.
